SFST leads delegation to attend HK-Shanghai Financial Co-operation meeting

     The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, will lead a delegation to Shanghai tomorrow (April 9) to attend the fifth Working Meeting of Hong Kong-Shanghai Financial Co-operation. They will exchange views with representatives of the relevant government departments, regulatory bodies and exchanges in Shanghai on ways to enhance financial co-operation between the two places.

     The delegation comprises the Permanent Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury (Financial Services), Mr Andrew Wong, and representatives of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Securities and Futures Commission, Office of the Commissioner of Insurance and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited.

     The Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau of Hong Kong and the Shanghai Municipal Government Financial Services Office signed a Memorandum of Understanding Concerning Advancing Hong Kong-Shanghai Financial Co-operation (MOU) in 2010. As one of the co-operation directives of the MOU, financial representatives of the two places hold bilateral meetings regularly with a view to enhancing mutual dialogues and exchanges.

     Professor Chan will join the Chief Executive to attend the third plenary session of the Hong Kong/Shanghai Economic and Trade Co-operation Conference in the morning of Friday (April 10) and will return to Hong Kong in the afternoon.
