The Chairman of the 2015 Fight Crime Conference, Mr Yeung Yiu-chung, today (March 21) appealed to the public to unite and work together, and actively participate in the fight against crime, contributing continuously to maintaining Hong Kong's advantage of having good law and order for decades.

The Conference is organised by the Fight Crime Committee (FCC) with "Be Vigilant Against Crime" as this year's theme. The Conference serves as a forum for members of the FCC and the 18 District Fight Crime Committees (DFCCs) to exchange views on topics relating to law and order in Hong Kong and fight crime issues.

The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, delivered an opening address at the Conference, and the Chief Secretary for Administration and Chairperson of the FCC, Mrs Carrie Lam, gave a keynote speech.

To herald this year's Conference, five pre-conference discussion group meetings were organised for members of the 18 DFCCs to deliberate on various law and order issues, namely domestic violence, youth drug problem and youth crime, "quick cash" crime, technology crime and commercial crime, and burglary and home security. The five discussion groups presented the outcome of their discussions at the Conference.

In addition, nearly 400 FCC and DFCC members attending the Conference participated in a discussion forum and shared opinions with the heads of relevant policy bureaux and departments on the law and order and crime situation in Hong Kong.

Other officials attending the conference included the Secretary for Justice, Mr Rimsky Yuen, SC; the Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing; the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung; the Secretary for Security, Mr Lai Tung-kwok; the Secretary for Education, Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim; the Commissioner of Police, Mr Tsang Wai-hung; the Commissioner of Correctional Services, Mr Yau Chi-chiu; and Acting Director of Home Affairs, Mr Jack Chan.
