Police appeal to participants of tomorrow's public events to express their views rationally and peacefully
************************************************************

In view of the unlawful behaviour of protestors in the public events in various districts recently, and that some netizens have expressed intention to hold public events at Government House in Central and other locations tomorrow (March 15), Police appeal to the persons concerned to contact Police as soon as possible to discuss the details of the events, so as to facilitate them to conduct the events in a lawful and orderly manner, and to reduce inconvenience caused to other members of the public to the minimum.

During the public events in the past few weeks, some protestors attacked and caused nuisance to passers-by; caused disturbance to shops; damaged public properties; and attempted to block roads. Police appeal to participants of public events to express their views rationally and peacefully. Police reiterate that no illegal or violent acts in breach of the peace will be tolerated. Resolute enforcement actions will be taken to preserve public order and safeguard public safety.

Police appeal to the public who witness any violence or illegal activities to report to Police promptly so that Police can take immediate actions. Members of the public are also encouraged to provide Police with relevant information such as video footage or photos to facilitate Police's follow-up actions.

Police reiterate that we respect the public's freedoms of expression, speech and assembly. It is the policy of Police to facilitate all lawful and peaceful public events while at the same time ensuring public safety and public order. Members of the public should comply with the laws of Hong Kong and maintain social order when expressing their views.
