SCED to promote Hong Kong in Russia

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, will depart for Moscow, Russia tomorrow (March 15) for a four-day visit to promote Hong Kong's business opportunities and strengthen trade ties with Russia.

     Mr So will meet with various senior government officials of the Russian Federation to discuss issues relating to trade and economic co-operation. He will also meet with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation to encourage Russian companies to set up in Hong Kong, as well as members of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the executive body of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), to forge co-operation between Hong Kong and the EEU.  

     During his stay, Mr So will speak at a roundtable seminar on intellectual property trading organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), and address a Chinese New Year reception in Moscow jointly hosted by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in London and the HKTDC.

     He will also take the opportunity to visit some start-up companies set up under the Skolkovo Foundation, Russia's most important science, technology and innovation development project.

     Mr So will return to Hong Kong on March 19. The Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Godfrey Leung, will be the Acting Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development during Mr So's absence.
