Free concerts to feature Chaozhou and Guangdong music

     Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, two free concerts in the "Guangdong Music Series" will be staged at the Six Arts Terrace, Kowloon Walled City Park in March.

     The two concerts will feature Chaozhou and Guangdong music respectively. The first concert, "Guangdong Music Under the Tree: Chaozhou Music", will be performed by the Hong Kong Chiuchow Music Ensemble led by Lau Fok-kwong, and will be held at 2.30pm on March 28 (Saturday). The programme includes Chaozhou gongs and drums "da luogu", Chaozhou gongs and drums "xiao luogu", "xianshi" ensemble music and Chaozhou operatic song singing.

     The second concert, "Guangdong Music Under the Tree: Guangdong Music", will be held at 2.30pm on March 29 (Sunday), with various local Guangdong musicians taking part including To Wing, Chan Pik-sum, Chan Sing-cheong, Liu Ka-yip, Leung Wing-yin, Kwok Ka-ying, Lee King-chi, Chan Kwok-fai, Ho Kang-ming, Yu Wing-ka, Chan Chi-chun, Wong Chung-yin, Chan Chi-kong, Wan Kai-ho, Chow Chung-nga and Pak Tak-wan. The programme includes "Autumn Moon over a Placid Lake", "A Hungry Horse Shaking Its Bells", "Rain Lashing on the Plantain", "In Celebration of Good Times", "Thunder in a Drought" and more.

     Admission is free. Members of the public are invited to enjoy the original essence of the traditional music of the last century under the trees at Kowloon Walled City Park.
