Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Security, Mr Lai Tung-kwok, after attending the Legislative Council's Panel on Security meeting today (February 3):
Reporter: Some legislative members are quite concerned about the admission of talent scheme, that it will be reducing the opportunities for the younger generations. What is your response?
Secretary for Security: My response is that we treasure to give every opportunity for our youngsters in Hong Kong to move up their career ladder. This is very important. But in the case that we are in shortage of certain posts that are needed to help the Hong Kong economic growth, then we have to allow some professionals to come here to help us. This is really a kind of common practice among the world's leading cities. There is nothing new about it. We do not change our position.
