Chung King-fai to perform Arthur Miller masterpiece "All My Sons"
************************************************************

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and produced by the Hong Kong Federation of Drama Societies, Arthur Miller's masterpiece "All My Sons" will be staged in March.

The play is directed by Luther Fung, and translated and produced by Dominic Cheung. The actors will include theatre veteran Chung King-fai as well as Patra Au, Guthrie Yip, Lai Yuk-ching, Johnson Yu, Mary Lee, Barry Chan, Ruby Chu, Andy Tang and Ngai Chi-hang.

The New York Times once called Arthur Miller "the moral voice of American stage". He wrote "All My Sons" in 1947, which later ran for more than 300 performances and won the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award. It was made into a film and a TV drama series in 1948 and 1986 respectively, and is hailed as one of Miller's three great masterpieces alongside "Death of a Salesman" and "The Crucible".

The story takes place around the time of the Second World War. American businessman Joe Keller is suspected of having sold defective warplane parts to the military, leading to the death of 21 aircrew members. Joe is arrested but claims he knows nothing about the matter, thus implicating his business partner Steve. Joe is discharged while Steve is indicted and imprisoned. Joe's son Larry is betrothed to Steve's daughter Ann, but he disappears along with his warplane. After the war, Joe's other son Chris helps to manage his father's business, and wants to marry Ann. Steve's son George, upon his father's order, tries to thwart them, and reveals the truth about the defective spare parts.

"All My Sons" (to be performed in Cantonese) will be staged at 8pm on March 27 and 28 (Friday and Saturday), and at 3pm on March 28 and 29 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Auditorium, Ko Shan Theatre New Wing.
