STH visits public rental housing site in Hung Shui Kiu and Shui Bin Wai Estate in Yuen Long (with photos)
***********************************************************

The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung, visited a public rental housing (PRH) construction site in Hung Shui Kiu and Shui Bin Wai Estate in Yuen Long this afternoon (January 29).

With a site area of 6.4 hectares, the PRH project, Hung Fuk Estate, is situated in Hung Shui Kiu Area 13. Comprising nine domestic blocks ranging from 16 to 24 storeys, it is anticipated to complete in mid-2015. The project will provide 4,905 flats for about 12,900 people.

Rural touches and pastoral greening have been added to the design features of Hung Fuk Estate to complement the surrounding environment. In the design layout, a breezeway from east to west will allow breezes to pass freely among blocks and create an exquisite landscape to view in the estate.

The facilities within the estate will include a shopping centre, a car park, a market, a kindergarten, an integrated children and youth centre, an elderly centre, welfare facilities and sitting-out facilities. There will also be a Public Transport Interchange nearby.

Before touring the PRH site in Hung Shui Kiu, Professor Cheung also visited Shui Bin Wai Estate in Yuen Long, which has a history of 34 years. He visited an electric vehicle charging station provided by a power company inside the car park. The charging station, which is the only one in the public rental estates of the Tuen Mun and Yuen Long districts, provides free charging service for electric cars.
