************************************************************

FarmFest 2015, the largest outdoor farmers' market in Hong Kong, is being held at Fa Hui Park in Mong Kok from today (January 23) to January 25, with more than 350 stalls showcasing a wide variety of local agricultural and fisheries products and other related goods.

The theme produce of this year include local organic papaya, organic edible mushroom, milky pak choi, hydroponic vegetables and tilapia.

In addition to some 200 booths selling premium local produce such as fresh organic fruit and vegetables, chilled fish, dried seafood and ornamental plants, booths selling local delicacies, kitchenware, household goods and eco-friendly products are also available.

Following the theme of this year, special exhibits have been erected at the venue, demonstrating organic cultivation of papaya and edible mushroom as well as the practices of a hydroponic vegetable factory. There is a simulated outdoor field of milky pak choi and other organic vegetables, fruits and herbs to give visitors an experience of farming in the heart of the city. Visitors can also learn more about cultured tilapia and other aquaculture practices in Hong Kong through a simulated fish farm and other displays.

A "nostalgic market street" modelled on the Vegetable Marketing Organization's half-century-old Cheung Sha Wan Wholesale Vegetable Market and lined with traditional shops selling local delicacies is another attraction of the carnival.

FarmFest 2015 is also offering various fringe activities such as cultural performances, talks and cooking demonstrations for the enjoyment of people of all ages.

Admission is free. There is a free shuttle bus service every 15 minutes from Shek Kip Mei MTR Station Exit B1 located at Woh Chai Street.

The event is jointly organised by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, the Vegetable Marketing Organization and the Fish Marketing Organization. First held in 2007, FarmFest has established itself as an annual signature event of the agricultural and fisheries sector that attracts a large number of visitors every year.
