Correctional Services officers stopped an assault by a person in custody on another person in Tung Tau Correctional Institution today (December 20).
At 1.11pm, a 40-year-old male person in custody suddenly attacked another male person in custody, aged 42, with fist in the dining hall. The officers immediately stopped the assault and separated them.
Both the victim and the assailant were examined and treated in the centre hospital. The victim sustained injury on the face and was transferred to a public hospital for further examination while the assailant sustained no injury.
The case has been reported to the Police.
The assailant was serving sentence for offence of using a false instrument and the victim for offence of dealing with property known or believed to represent proceeds of indictable offence.
