Sha Tin Festival 2014 - Pet Carnival held today (with photos)

     The Sha Tin Festival 2014 - Pet Carnival was successfully held today (December 14) at Tai Wai Playground, Sha Tin. The carnival aimed to promote kindness to animals and disseminate the message of respect for life and a culture of inclusivity while also bringing happiness to residents.

     The event attracted over 1,000 pet lovers who enjoyed a variety of programmes including a pet show, a beauty contest, a training demonstration, dog agility races, an artistes sharing session, body checks for pets and more.

     Officiating at the opening ceremony were the Deputy Director of Home Affairs, Mr Patrick Li; the Chairman of the Hospital Authority, Professor John Leong; the District Officer (Sha Tin), Ms Cora Ho; the Vice Chairman of Sha Tin District Council, Mr Pang Cheung-wai; the Chairman of Sha Tin Festival Committee 2014 (STF2014), Mr Jacko Lee; the President of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), Ms Gigi Fu; the Ambassador of the SPCA's Cadet Inspector Corps, Ms Sharon Kwok; the Principal of TWGHs Sin Chu Wan Primary School, Ms Cheng Wai-fung; the Vice-chairman of STF2014, Mr Yiu Ka-chun, and other guests.

     One of the highlights of Sha Tin Festival 2014, the pet carnival was co-organised by the STF2014, the SPCA and Sha Tin District Office.

     Under the theme "We are Sha Tin", the Sha Tin Festival 2014 is being held from September 8 this year to March 1 next year. During the festival, a wide range of cultural, leisure, sports, arts and caring activities are being organised to showcase the diverse characteristics of new town life and the uniqueness of Sha Tin District. Residents are encouraged to take part in community activities to strengthen their sense of belonging to the community.
