The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung, will depart for Malaysia tomorrow (December 3), leading a delegation comprising members of the Hong Kong Logistics Development Council and the Hong Kong Port Development Council to promote Hong Kong as a regional logistics hub. They will also visit the port, aviation and logistics facilities there.
During their stay in Kuala Lumpur, the delegation will meet with officials of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry and attend a seminar co-organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Singapore to exchange views with the local port and logistics industry. Professor Cheung will also deliver a keynote speech at the seminar.
The delegation will visit the cargo centre inside the Kuala Lumpur International Airport to learn more about its air cargo security facilities. They will also tour the port and logistics facilities at Westports and Port Klang Free Zone in Malaysia.
Professor Cheung will return to Hong Kong on Friday night (December 5). During his absence from Hong Kong, the Under Secretary for Transport and Housing, Mr Yau Shing-mu, will be the Acting Secretary for Transport and Housing.
