United Nations Sanctions (Libya) Regulation 2011 (Amendment) Regulation 2014 gazetted

     The Government today (November 28) gazetted the United Nations Sanctions (Libya) Regulation 2011 (Amendment) Regulation 2014 (the Amendment Regulation), which came into operation on the same date.

     "The Amendment Regulation amends existing sanctions against Libya to implement decisions of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) under Resolutions 2146 and 2174," a Government spokesperson said.

     The Amendment Regulation mainly provides for:

* the prohibition against loading, transport or discharge of crude oil from Libya aboard ships designated by the relevant UNSC Sanctions Committee;

* the prohibition against engaging in financial transactions related to any crude oil from Libya aboard ships designated by the relevant UNSC Sanctions Committee;

* the prohibition against the provision of certain services to ships designated by the relevant UNSC Sanctions Committee; and

* the prohibition against ships designated by the relevant UNSC Sanctions Committee from entering waters of Hong Kong.
