FS continues visit to Sydney (with photos)
******************************************

The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, today (November 18) conducted the second day of his visit to Sydney.

In the morning, Mr Tsang visited National ICT Australia, the nation's largest organisation dedicated to commercialisation of information communications technology research.

Mr Tsang then attended a boardroom lunch hosted by Asialink to address a host of businessmen, politicians and academics to update them on Hong Kong's latest events and opportunities. Mr Tsang said that Hong Kong is Australia's financial super-highway to China.

"Given our Renminbi business strengths, Hong Kong can help Australian companies mine the promise of the Renminbi in international trade settlement and investment.

"The Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect is an excellent example of how Hong Kong contributes to and benefits from the Mainland's continuous financial reform. Under the programme, investors from every part of the world will be able to use the Hong Kong Stock Exchange as the platform to trade about 570 Shanghai-listed shares directly. Likewise, Mainland investors will be able to trade stocks listed in Hong Kong from the Shanghai Stock Exchange," he added.

A meeting with the Director of the Australian Securities Exchange, Dr Ken Henry, came after the boardroom lunch. Both sides exchanged views on the recent developments in the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect, opportunities in Renminbi business and regional infrastructure funding.

At a networking reception co-organised by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Sydney and the Hong Kong Australia Business Association, Mr Tsang spoke on the opportunities Hong Kong can offer Australian business.

Mr Tsang will continue his visit to Sydney on its third day before returning to Hong Kong tomorrow (November 19).
