********************************************************

The Central People's Government (CPG) has decided to enter into the Agreement for the Establishment of the International Anti-Corruption Academy as an International Organisation (the Agreement), a government spokesman said today (November 18). The Agreement came into force for China on November 15, 2014. After seeking the views of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), the CPG decided that the Agreement is applicable to the HKSAR.

Established under the Agreement, the International Anti-Corruption Academy aims to develop the study of anti-corruption theories and provide training and education on anti-corruption, in order to enhance the ability of international anti-corruption institutions and their personnel in combating corruption. The Agreement was concluded in Vienna on September 2, 2010, and is open for signature by Members of the United Nations and intergovernmental organisations. The Agreement took effect on March 8, 2011.

Details of the Agreement can be found on the relevant website (www.iaca.int/).
