CE to attend APEC meeting in Beijing

     The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, will leave for Beijing in the afternoon on November 8 to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2014 Leaders' Week and other related meetings.

     The theme of this year's meeting is "Shaping the Future through Asia-Pacific Partnership" with three priorities: advancing regional economic integration; promoting innovative development, economic reform and growth; and strengthening comprehensive connectivity and infrastructure development.

     In the morning of November 9, the Chief Executive will attend the opening session of the APEC CEO Summit during which President Xi Jinping will deliver a keynote speech. The Chief Executive will also address a discussion session of the Summit entitled "The Global Economy Today: How Sustainable? How Fragile?" in the afternoon.

     During the APEC meetings, the Chief Executive will attend the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting and meet with leaders of other member economies and APEC Business Advisory Council members. He will also pay visits to central ministries on November 12.

     The Chief Executive will depart Beijing in the evening on November 12. During Mr Leung's absence, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, will be Acting Chief Executive.
