Building Safety Carnival cum Prize Presentation Ceremony concludes successfully (with photos)
*********************************************************

Organised by the Buildings Department (BD), the "Building Safety Carnival cum Prize Presentation Ceremony" concluded successfully today (November 2). The two-day event was well attended, with many people participating in diverse activities to learn more about the importance of building safety to their daily lives.

Held at Comix Home Base in Wan Chai, the carnival featured many interesting activities including talks on building safety and building and window inspections, comics and photography workshops, game booths, funny face sketches, and displays of buildings inspection tools.

The finale of the carnival was a prize presentation ceremony for the "Building Safety Depends on All of Us" comic drawing competition and the "Our People Our Homes" photo competition, which was held this afternoon. Prizes were awarded to winners of the comic drawing competition and the photo competition, which were targeted at secondary and primary students and members of the public respectively. Both contests received an overwhelming response, with around 1 900 entries in total. Winning entries are displayed on the third floor of Comix Home Base from November 1 to 6.

The BD believes that the carnival helps the public to learn more about building safety. The BD will continue to organise different types of activities to disseminate building safety messages to the public.

Further details of the "Building Safety Carnival cum Prize Presentation Ceremony" are available on the thematic website "Care For Your Building" (www.careyourbuilding.bd.gov.hk).
