Ceramics exhibition, talk and demonstration to take place at HK Central Library (with photos)
************************************************************

Ceramic works can reflect the character and creativity of the creators. To showcase the creative potential of ceramics artists, the Hong Kong Public Libraries of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and St James' Creation of St James' Settlement Rehabilitation Services have jointly organised the ceramics exhibition "Clay Story", which runs from today until January 27 at the Arts Resource Centre on the 10/F of the Hong Kong Central Library (HKCL).

The exhibition focuses on portraying a scene of storytelling and interaction within the public space of libraries. The works themselves also seek to convey the importance of sharing, communication and interaction between people and create an imaginative and colourful scene.

The ceramic items on display include smiling clay figures of various sizes ranging from several centimetres to 75cm in height.

In addition, a "Clay Story" ceramics talk and demonstration will be held on November 9 (Sunday) at 2.30pm in the Lecture Theatre on the ground floor of the HKCL for the public to learn more about ceramics and their development from artists, promoters and others. The speakers will be Museum Expert Adviser of the LCSD and Member of the Museum Advisory Committee, Ms Rosanna Li; founder of the Health & Taste Company Limited, Ms Ivy Chow; and the Ceramics Consultant of St James' Settlement, Ms Sze Wai-ling. The Senior Manager (Rehabilitation Services) of St James' Settlement, Ms Kari Lau, will act as moderator. Pottery artists from St James' Creation will also demonstrate their creative skills on-site.

The lecture titles are "Clay work appreciation - happy potters, happy stories", "Continuity and integration" and "Creation process and future development". In addition, they will discuss the creative process behind ceramic works and their artistic value. They will also share their views on the future prospects of ceramic art and the feasibility of public involvement.

Admission to the exhibition, talk and demonstration is free. The talks will be conducted in Cantonese on a first-come, first-served basis.
