SCED visits Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) (with photos)

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, today (October 14) visited the 34th Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) and the 18th electronicAsia at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

     The two fairs, which run from October 13 to 16, have attracted a total of some 4,100 exhibitors from 24 countries and regions and make up the world's largest electronics marketplace. Major exhibit categories range from 3D printing, audio-visual products and health-care electronics to home appliances, security products and telecommunications products.

     Accompanied by the Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), Ms Margaret Fong, Mr So visited some exhibitors, which are either headquartered or listed in Hong Kong, in the Technology Exchange Zone and the Hall of Fame to learn more about their innovative products. He also exchanged views with them on the business outlook and advances in the electronics industry.

     Mr So said, "The products of Hong Kong exhibitors are not only innovative, but are also practical with creative designs. They epitomise the excellence of Hong Kong's electronics industry.

     "I understand that the HKTDC has also specially set up a matching zone this year for buyers and manufacturers to meet and discuss business deals."

     He said some exhibitors had expressed the view that the "Occupy Central" movement had to some extent impacted on them, adding that the HKTDC had liaised with public transport operators to arrange transport to the venue with a view to minimising the inconvenience to visitors.
