The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department today (October 3) urged the public to suspend use of a Linetek AC power cord with the model number LS-15 and contact the supplier, HP Hong Kong Limited, for free replacement service.
The supplier found that, in very rare cases and long-term operation, the product may overheat, posing a potential risk.
This model of AC power cord was sold in Hong Kong from September 2010 to June 2012 together with the supplier's HP and Compaq notebook computers. The supplier will initiate a voluntary recall and post notices announcing the free replacement service in newspapers on October 8 and 9.
