Police urge participants of unlawful assembly to leave as soon as possible
**********************************************************

Regarding the public meeting now (September 27) being held outside the Central Government Office (CGO), some of the protestors forced their way into the CGO and the Legislative Council (LegCo) Complex earlier by violent means and they therefore are participating in an unlawful assembly.

The participants ignored repeated Police appeals and warnings and refused to leave. Police urged the participants, including those gathering on the footbridge on Tim Mei Avenue, to leave peacefully and orderly to avoid obstructing police officers in execution of their duties. Otherwise Police will soon take actions to restore public order.

During the operation, Police officers discharge their duties in a professional and restrained manner. Police appeal to the protestors to cooperate with the Police and adhere to the instructions of Police officers at scene.

Police reiterate that the public meeting being held on Tim Mei Avenue near CGO was unlawful. Police appeal to members of the public, especially students and underage people, not to participate in any illegal activity and not to go to the vicinity.
