LegCo Panel on Transport concludes duty visit in Singapore (with photos)

     The Legislative Council (LegCo) Panel on Transport concluded its four-day duty visit in Singapore today (September 26).

     The leader of the delegation and Chairman of the Panel on Transport, Mr Chan Kam-lam, concluded that the duty visit was very successful in enhancing Members' understanding of the development and provision of public transport facilities and the implementation of various traffic control measures in Singapore.

     "The delegation held meetings and exchanged views with the Minister for Transport, Members of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Transport, representatives from relevant Government bodies as well as the bus and rail operator in Singapore. Members also learnt about the development of Singapore's National Cycling Plan and their strategy to promote the use of bicycle as a mode of green transport in recent years. We thank the relevant departments of the Singapore government for their warm reception during our visit," said Mr Chan.

     On the last day of its visit, the delegation visited the Land Transport Authority and received a briefing on the traffic control measures in Singapore, including the Electronic Road Pricing and the Intelligent Transport Systems, and the national planning of cycling facilities and cycling path network.

     The delegation departed for Hong Kong in the afternoon. The overseas duty visit was concluded successfully.
