SCED to attend Harbin Hong Kong Week 2014

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, will depart for Harbin in Heilongjiang Province tomorrow (September 17) to attend as the guest of honour and speak at the opening ceremony for Harbin Hong Kong Week 2014 cum 2014 Hong Kong Trendy Products Expo, Harbin, to be held on Friday (September 19).

     Mr So will tour various exhibition zones after the ceremony. In the same morning, he will also attend the opening ceremony for the Harbin Hong Kong Brand Festival and deliver a speech.

     Harbin Hong Kong Week 2014 is co-organised by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and the People's Government of Heilongjiang Province. It aims to promote Hong Kong's priority industries, encourage Mainland enterprises' investment in Hong Kong, and enhance local residents' understanding of Hong Kong through a series of seminars on various topics including the business environment and relevant policies in Hong Kong, as well as the business opportunities in Hong Kong and Heilongjiang Province.

     A joint venture between the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong (CMA) and the Harbin Municipal Government, the Expo will present more than 200 booths covering fashion and accessories, jewellery and watches, beauty and health products, food and beverages, household products, electrical appliances, children's products and authentic cuisine of Hong Kong.

     The Harbin Hong Kong Brand Festival, supported by the Dedicated Fund on Branding, Upgrading and Domestic Sales, is co-organised by the Hong Kong Brand Development Council and the CMA. The Festival aims to help Hong Kong enterprises explore business opportunities on the Mainland, as well as promote the image of Hong Kong brands in an innovative manner.

     Mr So will meet leaders of Heilongjiang during his stay in Harbin. He will return to Hong Kong on Friday evening. The Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Godfrey Leung, will be the Acting Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development during Mr So's absence.
