Closure order lifted for cooked food stall in Chai Wan
******************************************************

The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department today (August 21) lifted the closure order imposed earlier on stall No. 5 at the Cooked Food Centre on the first floor of Yue Wan Market in Chai Wan.

A department spokesman said, "The cooked food stall was closed on August 2 following detection of Vibrio cholerae O1 El Tor serotype Ogawa in a water sample collected from its fish tank.

"The cooked food stall operator took remedial measures afterwards, including installing new fish tanks, filtration and disinfection systems, as well as cleaning and disinfecting the stall area thoroughly."

FEHD staff have been closely monitoring the hygiene condition of the cooked food stall concerned after the closure order was imposed, the spokesman said. Follow-up fish-tank water samples were also taken from the stall. During the latest inspection, the hygiene condition of the cooked food stall was found to be satisfactory. Together with the satisfactory test results of follow-up fish-tank water samples, it was considered that there was no longer an immediate health hazard on the premises and the cooked food stall was allowed to resume operation from today.

FEHD staff have reminded the operator again that good personal, environmental and food hygiene must be observed while handling food.
