SED to lead delegation to participate in Ningbo-Hong Kong education exchange activities

     The Secretary for Education (SED), Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, will lead a delegation from the Hong Kong education sector to Ningbo tomorrow (July 31) to participate in a series of Ningbo-Hong Kong education exchange activities.

     Upon his arrival in Ningbo, Mr Ng will represent the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government by officiating and delivering a speech at the opening ceremony of the Ningbo-Hong Kong Economic Co-operation Forum 2014 co-hosted by the Ningbo Municipal Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council in the evening.

     On the following day (August 1), Mr Ng will give opening remarks at the Ningbo-Hong Kong Education Co-operation Conference and witness the signing of education co-operation documents by higher education and vocational education institutions as well as sister school agreements by primary and secondary schools of the two places.

     Mr Ng will also meet and exchange views on education issues with officials of the Ningbo Education Bureau, and attend the Ningbo-Hong Kong Student Exchange Session to listen to students of the two places sharing their aspirations about life, learning and personal growth.
 
     The 50-strong education delegation from Hong Kong is made up of officers of the Education Bureau, representatives of tertiary institutions and the Vocational Training Council, and principals of primary, secondary and special schools. Besides taking part in education exchange activities, the delegates will also participate in a series of study visits to schools and cultural relics.  
 
     Mr Ng will return to Hong Kong on August 2. During his absence, the Under Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, will be the Acting SED.
