FEHD cancels licence of food factory in Sham Shui Po
****************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene today (June 12) cancelled the licence of a food factory in Sham Shui Po, as the operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation (FBR) by illegally extending the business area.

The food factory is located at shop B2 on the ground floor at 45 Tai Po Road.

"Between last March and this April, four convictions for the breach were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) said.

"A total fine of $8,600 was levied by the court and 90 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the cancellation of the licence," he added.

The licensee of the food premises had a record of two convictions for the same offence in June 2012 and January last year. A total fine of $4,100 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days in March last year.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the FBR or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.

Licensed food premises are required to exhibit a sign indicating that the premises have been licensed at a conspicuous place near the main entrance. A list of licensed food premises is also available on the FEHD's website (www.fehd.gov.hk/english/licensing/licence-type.html).
