Transcript of remarks by SEN
****************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for the Environment, Mr Wong Kam-sing, during a stand-up session on the fuel mix consultation today (June 5):

Reporter: Does the Government actually prefer option one of importing (electricity) from China?

Secretary for the Environment: As I said earlier, the Government takes an open position about that. We are observing the responses from the society that there is certain bias or not so accurate information being shared in the society, so the Government should take a role to proactively clarify certain misunderstanding. I would like to reiterate that the Hong Kong Government takes an open position about that.

Reporter: You've mentioned an open position. So the Government is not limited to two options and you are exploring other options as well?

Secretary for the Environment: We have talked about different options before drafting this consultation document. Based on various responses in the past few years, we've summarised the two key options for discussion by the society. Certainly, during this period, we can hear more views.
