FEHD cancels licence of a restaurant in Sha Tin
***********************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene today (May 28) cancelled the licence of a restaurant in Sha Tin, as the licensee failed to observe a licence suspension order.

The restaurant is located at shop 1 on the ground floor of Lai Shing Garden at No.1¡V7 Sha Tin Wai Road.

The licensee of the restaurant repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation (FBR) by illegally extending the food business area. Two convictions were recorded in December last year. A total fine of $2,440 was levied by the court and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department¡¦s demerit points system. The licence was subject to a suspension for seven days between March 6 and 12 this year.

"During the licence suspension period, the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) staff through inspections found that the operator of the food premises had failed to observe the suspension order by operating a food business without a valid licence. Prosecution has been taken against the operator for unlicensed food business and the licence concerned was cancelled in accordance with the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance," a spokesman for the FEHD said.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the FBR and the relevant legislation or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.

Licensed food premises are required to exhibit a sign, at a conspicuous place near the main entrance, indicating that the premises have been licensed. A list of licensed food premises is available on the FEHD's website (www.fehd.gov.hk/english/licensing/licence-type.html).
