Proprietor fined for violation of safety rules

A proprietor was fined $185,000 at Fanling Magistrates' Courts today (May 27) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance and the Boilers and Pressure Vessels Ordinance. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on October 21 last year in Yuen Long. A steam boiler being used for manufacturing bean products in the factory suddenly exploded, resulting in the death of a worker and injuries to four workers.
