EDB welcomes appointment of Executive Director of Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education

     The Education Bureau today (May 27) welcomed the appointment of Professor Ng Tai-kai as the new Executive Director of the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education (HKAGE) with effect from June 1, 2014.

     The HKAGE has just made the announcement of the new appointment. Professor Ng is currently the Associate Dean of Science of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and the Director of HKUST's Center for the Development of the Gifted and Talented. He is also a member of the Curriculum Development Council Committee on Gifted Education.

     The Secretary for Education, Mr Eddie Ng, said, "Professor Ng, a forerunner in promoting the development of gifted education in Hong Kong, has been passionately devoted to the nurturing of local gifted students for years.

     "The Education Bureau has placed gifted education as a priority through creating appropriate learning opportunities for gifted students. The HKAGE has been playing an important role in complementing the gifted education policy of the Government.

     "We firmly believe that the HKAGE will further excel in nurturing exceptionally gifted students through a comprehensive and dedicated service and contributing to the future development of gifted education in Hong Kong, under the expert leadership of Chairman Mr Frederick Lam, Professor Ng and the Board of Directors of the HKAGE."
