Hongkong Post today (May 23) announced that a set of "2014 Hong Kong Definitive Stamps" will be released for sale with associated philatelic products on July 24 (Thursday).

Hong Kong is an international metropolis of skyscrapers. On the outskirts of this bustling city, however, there lies a great expanse of countryside with opulent biodiversity and a charming natural environment. Apart from providing habitats for our myriad wildlife, this verdant countryside is also rich in rare rock formations and world-class geological landscapes. To deepen public understanding of the landscape features of Hong Kong and the importance of geo-conservation, the new set of definitive stamps to be issued by Hongkong Post later this year showcases the distinctive landforms and landscape of the Hong Kong Global Geopark of China. A range of philatelic products, in addition to stamps, will be released.

In parallel, the "2006 Hong Kong Definitive Stamps" on the theme of birds, officially released on December 31, 2006, will continue to be on sale while stock lasts. An official souvenir cover and associated philatelic products will be released to commemorate the concurrent sale of two sets of Hong Kong definitive stamps.

The stamps and associated philatelic products will be on display at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office, Sha Tin Central Post Office and Tuen Mun Central Post Office from July 10 for public information.

The two stamps bearing "Local Mail Postage" and "Air Mail Postage" indications will be withdrawn from general sale at the close of business on July 23 (Wednesday). Uncancelled stamps already purchased can continue to be used for prepayment of postage. The "Local Mail Postage" stamp carries a value at the prevailing postage rate for a Local Mail item not exceeding 30 grams and the "Air Mail Postage" stamp carries a value at the prevailing postage rate for an Air Mail item to Zone 2 not exceeding 20g, i.e. $1.70 and $3.70 respectively at present.

Information about the new definitive stamps and associated philatelic products is available on Hongkong Post's website at www.hongkongpost.hk and the Hongkong Post Mobile App.
