Mary Wu, who has been hailed as "one of the most gifted pianists of her generation", and Colin Carr, who has performed around the world as a cello soloist, will stage a cello and piano duo recital in July.

The concert will feature Bach's "Suite No. 1 for Cello in G, BWV1007", Beethoven's "Sonata for Piano and Cello in A, Op. 69", Debussy's "Sonata for Cello and Piano in D Minor, L135" and Brahms' "Sonata for Piano and Cello in F, Op. 99".

Hailed as a "British sensation" and "an artist of the highest calibre" by Time Out Hong Kong, Colin Carr first played the cello at the age of 5. He studied with Maurice Gendron and later William Pleeth. He was made a professor at the Royal Academy of Music in 1998, having been on the faculty of the New England Conservatory in Boston for 16 years. Carr has played with major orchestras worldwide, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and more. Carr has won many prestigious international awards, including first prize in the Naumburg Competition, the Gregor Piatigorsky Memorial Award and second prize in the Rostropovich International Cello Competition.

Mary Wu is an active and talented pianist in Hong Kong, and was acclaimed as "one of the most gifted pianists of her generation" by Ravel's long-time pupil Vlado Perlemuter. Wu was also praised by one of the greatest violinist Yehudi Menuhin as having "a captivating poetical quality to her playing". Wu performed with Menuhin in the United Kingdom and Germany, and she has also performed in various international music festivals including the Intimacy of Creativity festival in Hong Kong, in which she performed with two-time Grammy Award winner Richard Stoltzman. In addition, she has performed frequently with Gramophone Chamber Music Award winners the Maggini Quartet.
