SCED to attend Chongqing Hong Kong Week 2014

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, will depart for Chongqing tomorrow (April 29) to attend activities of Chongqing Hong Kong Week 2014, which commences on April 30.

     Chongqing Hong Kong Week 2014 is co-organised by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and the Chongqing Municipal Government. It aims to enhance exchanges between Hong Kong and Chongqing in areas such as trade, commerce and culture. As a highlight of the event, "2014 Hong Kong Trendy Products Expo, Chongqing" will showcase the latest development of Hong Kong brands, with numerous items including jewellery and watches, fashion and accessories, household products and authentic cuisine.

     On the morning of April 30, Mr So will be the guest of honour and will speak at the opening ceremony of Chongqing Hong Kong Week 2014 cum Chongqing Industrial Exhibition.

     The same morning, Mr So will also officiate and speak at the opening ceremony of the Chongqing Hong Kong Brand Festival, which is co-organised by Hong Kong Brand Development Council and the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong. The Festival, supported by the Dedicated Fund on Branding, Upgrading and Domestic Sales (BUD Fund), aims to promote the image of Hong Kong brands in order to help Hong Kong enterprises explore business opportunities and develop on the Mainland.

     While in Chongqing, Mr So will also meet with leaders of the Chongqing Municipal Government to exchange views on issues of mutual concern.

     Mr So will return to Hong Kong in the afternoon of April 30. The Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Godfrey Leung, will be the Acting Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development during Mr So's absence.
