Centre for Food Safety launches Food Safety mobile app
******************************************************

The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department launched a mobile application called Food Safety, today (April 15) to help people keep abreast of the latest news and information on food safety any time, anywhere.

A spokesman for the CFS said, "There is growing public awareness of the importance of food safety. By downloading this app, various food alerts and the actions undertaken by the CFS in relation to food safety issues will be at your fingertips in less than no time. Furthermore, the app provides users with knowledge and tips about food safety as well as offering professional but easy-to-understand information on food hazards and their public health risks.

"The Food Safety app enables users to set up their own archives to store food safety information according to personal preference for later perusal or review. Users can also retrieve food safety topics of interest by searching keywords, and share food safety information via email and online social media," he added.

IPhone and Android phone versions of the Food Safety app are available in traditional and simplified Chinese, and English. The app can be downloaded free of charge from the App Store and Google Play starting from today.

For enquiries or comments on the Food Safety app, please call 2868 0000 or email to CFS (enquiries@fehd.gov.hk).
