Stage 2 Community Engagement for Planning and Engineering Study on Future Land Use at Ex-Lamma Quarry Area - Feasibility Study launched
**********************************************************

The Planning Department and the Civil Engineering and Development Department today (March 14) launched the Stage 2 Community Engagement for Planning and Engineering Study on Future Land Use at Ex-Lamma Quarry (ELQ) Area at Sok Kwu Wan, Lamma Island - Feasibility Study to gauge the public's views on the draft Recommended Outline Development Plan (RODP). Members of the public are welcome to participate.

Public views were collected in the Stage 1 Community Engagement last year, mainly on the three initial land use options under the "Housing" and "Tourism plus Housing" themes. The views collected indicated that the public generally supported development on the ELQ Site (Study Site). Taking into account the public views collected, the vision and the guiding principles, as well as the technical assessments conducted, the draft RODP for the Study Site has now been formulated.

The draft RODP is based on the "Tourism plus Housing" theme to unleash the development potential of the Study Site. It is proposed to provide low to medium density private and subsidised housing development for about 5 000 persons at the Study Site. Various tourism and recreational facilities would also be introduced for the enjoyment of visitors and the general public.

The Stage 2 Community Engagement will last for about two months until May 17. Activities including a public forum, briefings and roving exhibitions will be conducted.

Details of the activities and engagement documents are available at the website of the Study (www.ex-lammaquarry.hk/). Members of the public are invited to send in their comments through the following channels on or before May 17:
