Special traffic arrangements in Chai Wan during Ching Ming Festival

     Police will implement special traffic arrangements in Chai Wan to facilitate vehicular traffic and pedestrian movements during Ching Ming Festival.

Road closure:

Phase I
-------

     Vehicles will be allowed to use Cape Collison Road east of Lin Shing Road from 7pm to 6pm on March 9, 15, 22 and 29, April 18, 19, 21 and 26, May 1, 3 and 4. Traffic arrangements in Phase II may be implemented when necessary.

Phase II
--------

     The following roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic between 7am and 6.30pm on March 16, 23 and 30, April 12, 13, 20 and 27:

(a) the slip road leading from Cape Collinson Road to the Garden of Remembrance and Crematorium, except hearses and funeral vehicles;
(b) the slip road leading to Chai Wan Chinese Permanent Cemetery;
(c) Wan Tsui Lane;
(d) Cape Collinson Road east of Lin Shing Road except green minibus (GMB) route 18M, hearses, funeral vehicles and vehicles with permits;
(e) Cape Collinson Road west of Lin Shing Road, except franchised buses, GMB routes 16A, 16M, 16X and 18M, hearses, funeral vehicles and vehicles with permits; and
(f) Lin Shing Road, except franchised buses, GMB routes 16A, 16M, 16X and 18M, hearses, funeral vehicles, vehicles with permits, and vehicles to Wan Tsui Estate.

     Depending on traffic condition, taxis and public light buses (PLBs) may be allowed to enter Lin Shing Road and turn right to Cape Collinson Road. Vehicles along Lin Shing Road cannot turn left to Cape Collinson Road.

Phase III
---------

     The following roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic between 7am and 7.30pm on April 5 and 6:

(a) Lin Shing Road, except franchised buses, GMB routes 16A, 16M and 16X, hearses, funeral vehicles, vehicles with permits, and vehicles to Wan Tsui Estate; and
(b) Cape Collinson Road, except franchised buses, GMB routes 16A, 16M and 16X, hearses, funeral vehicles and vehicles with permits.

Traffic diversion:

     The following roads will be re-routed one-way:

(a) Lin Shing Road from Wan Tsui Road to Cape Collinson Road will be re-routed one-way southbound; and
(b) Cape Collinson Road from Crematorium slip road to Shek O Road will be re-routed one-way westbound.

     No parking will be permitted along Cape Collinson Road, Lin Shing Road, Shek O Road between Lai Chi Rehabilitation Centre and Tai Tam Road, and Wan Tsui Road.

     Taxis, PLBs and private cars will not be permitted to enter Lin Shing Road for Cape Collinson Road except for those gaining access to Wan Tsui Estate.  They will be allowed to drop off passengers at the PLB stand on Fei Tsui Road near the junction with Wan Tsui Road.

     Private cars will be prohibited from entering the car park of Hing Wah Estate Phase I from northbound Wan Tsui Road.

     Depending on traffic condition, PLBs may be prohibited from entering Tai Tam Road from Chai Wan Road without prior notice.

     PLBs will be prohibited from picking up or dropping off passengers on Wan Tsui Road between Chai Wan Road and Fei Tsui Road.

     Any illegally parked vehicles will be towed away without prior notice.

     Actual implementation of the traffic arrangements will be made depending on traffic and crowd conditions in the area. Members of the public are urged to take heed of instructions of police at scene.
