************************************************************

Hongkong Post and the Antiquities and Monuments Office announced today (March 6) that they are jointly organising an exhibition entitled "A Journey through Hong Kong's Postal History - A Glimpse of Hong Kong's Postal History through the Old General Post Office Building (1911-1976)". The exhibition will be held at the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre in Kowloon Park, Tsim Sha Tsui, from April 29 to August 26.

Once standing in the heart of Central, the old General Post Office (GPO) building housed the main operations of the Post Office, including both counter services and back-end mail processing functions, for more than 60 years after the GPO moved into the building in 1911. The upcoming exhibition will chronicle the history of the local postal service and highlight the architectural features of this magnificent historic building. More details about the exhibition will be announced later.

Hongkong Post will issue a stamp sheetlet to mark the opening of the exhibition. In addition, a prestige stamp booklet and a first day cover will be released. Advance orders for the stamp sheetlet and associated products are being accepted from today to March 23. Order forms are now available at all post offices. Customers may also place orders via Stamp OnNet at www.stamponnet.hongkongpost.hk during the same advance order period. Information about the stamp sheetlet and associated products is available on the Hongkong Post Stamps website at www.hongkongpoststamps.hk, from any post office and on the Hongkong Post Philatelic Bureau hotline 2785 5711.
