EPD invites non-profit-making organisations to briefing session on Restored Landfill Revitalisation Funding Scheme
**********************************************************

The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) is inviting non-profit-making organisations and national sports associations to a briefing session on the Restored Landfill Revitalisation Funding Scheme. Details are as follows:

Date: February 20 (Thursday)
Time: 10.15am to 11.45am
Venue: Auditorium, G/F, Central Government Offices, 2 Tim Mei Avenue, Tamar, Hong Kong

There are currently 13 fully restored landfills in Hong Kong. Due to technical constraints, they are mainly reserved for recreational purposes and are not suitable for heavy construction or industrial development. Among them, seven have already been fully developed for public use or reserved for conservation. The remaining six restored landfills, namely Tseung Kwan O Stage I, Tseung Kwan O Stage II/III, Ma Yau Tong Central, Ma Yau Tong West, Ngau Tam Mei and Pillar Point Valley, are available for development for recreation or other innovative uses.

The Chief Executive announced in the 2014 Policy Address that the Government has earmarked $1 billion to set up the Restored Landfill Revitalisation Funding Scheme, for which non-profit-making organisations and national sports associations with proven track records in their respective sectors will be eligible to apply. The Scheme will provide for the development of suitable and attractive facilities at restored landfills so that the community can reap the benefits of development at the sites at the earliest opportunity.

Relevant organisations that are interested in attending the briefing session must sign up with the EPD via email (fhwong@epd.gov.hk) on or before February 18. As seating is limited, each organisation may reserve a maximum of two seats. Seats will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If the number of people enrolled exceeds the seating capacity, the EPD will hold another briefing session with details to be announced later.
