SED invited to address Education World Forum

     The Secretary for Education (SED), Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, will pay a duty visit to London, the United Kingdom (UK), from tomorrow (January 20) to January 22, where he has been invited to attend and speak at the Education World Forum (EWF).

     Mr Ng will introduce to education ministers from around the world the achievements, latest developments and priorities of Hong Kong in education, including the new education and youth initiatives just announced in the 2014 Policy Address.

     The EWF is an annual summit in London inviting education ministers from around the world and their delegations to participate. Mr Ng will take part in various programmes to exchange views with other ministers on education policy and future developments in education.

     In addition to participating in the three-day ministerial forum, Mr Ng will take the opportunity to meet with UK education officials as well as local business and community leaders, and students from Hong Kong. He will also visit Imperial College London.

     Officials accompanying the SED to visit London will include the Deputy Secretary for Education, Dr Catherine K K Chan, and the Administrative Assistant to the SED, Mr Kenneth Cheng. Mr Ng will be back in Hong Kong in the late afternoon on January 23.

     During Mr Ng's visit to the UK, the Under Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, will be the Acting SED.
