Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for the Environment, Mr Wong Kam-sing, on landfill extension after attending a public event today (January 9):
Reporter: Can you address the Legislative Council members' criticism?
Secretary for the Environment: Actually, we are working with other bureaux and we would have a kind of written statement to LegCo (Legislative Council) so that the intention of this kind of approval process can be clarified. And they can understand that we are not side-stepping any arrangement, but following the established procedure. For this kind of arrangement, even though we are applying for funding for certain consultancy study or preparation work, the actual expenses would only be made after the major project's funding to be approved by the LegCo soon.
