Employer fined for wage offences
********************************

Wayson Logistics Agent (HK) Limited was fined $60,000 at the Fanling Magistrates' Courts today (January 7) for wage offences under the Employment Ordinance. The prosecution was taken out by the Labour Department.

The employer failed to pay wages to two employees within seven days after the expiry of the wage periods as required by the Employment Ordinance.

"The Labour Department does not tolerate wage offences and spares no effort in prosecuting employers who defy the law," a spokesperson for the Labour Department said.

Employees who are owed wages should call the Labour Department's complaint hotline, 2815 2200, immediately.
