North Lantau Hospital (NLTH) will extend its Accident and Emergency (A&E) service to 16 hours with effect from January 7, 2014 (Tuesday) to cater to the community need on emergency medical treatment. The new service hour will be operated from 8am to midnight.
The Hospital Chief Executive of NLTH, Dr Nancy Tung, said, "NLTH commenced patient services on September 24, 2013 with a smooth operation so far. Our A&E Department has been providing an eight-hour service from 9am to 5pm. The average daily A&E attendance has steadily increased from 70 during the first week to 100 recently."
"To further enhance our services for the residents in Tung Chung district and its vicinity, NLTH will extend its A&E service to 16 hours starting from January 7, 2014. This is in line with our clinical service plan announced earlier. Subject to the manpower and resources situation, 24-hour A&E service is planned for the third quarter in 2014."

Following the extension of service hours of the A&E service in NLTH, the North Lantau Community Health Centre Special Night Clinic in NLTH, which is currently providing consultation service from 10pm to 11.45pm on weekdays, will be discontinued from January 7, 2014. NLTH is one of the public hospitals under the Kowloon West Cluster of the Hospital Authority to serve residents in Tung Chung district.
