Since its first overseas tour in 1997, it has concluded successful tours to Singapore, Japan and Malaysia. In 2009 at the "A Voyage of Songs" International Choral Festival, the choir was awarded a gold diploma in both the Chamber Choir and Mixed Choir Open Category competitions, as well as the Category Winner Award in the Mixed Choir Open Category and the Jury Award. The MOYC has collaborated with many music groups including the acclaimed Bach Choir from the United Kingdom and the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra from the United States.

The choir has participated at a number of major events including the 1999 and 2002 Hong Kong International Children's Choral Festivals and a joint concert with the Macao Youth Choir (Core Juvenil de Macau) in 2007.
