Illustrated catalogue now available for "Images Through Time: Photos of Old Hong Kong" exhibition (with photo)

     In conjunction with the"Images Through Time: Photos of Old Hong Kong" exhibition, the Hong Kong Museum of History has published a catalogue of the same title which portrays old Hong Kong seen through the precious old photos provided by the Moonchu Foundation and museum collections. Supplemented with detailed descriptions, the catalogue also reviews the early development of photography in Hong Kong.

     The "Images Through Time: Photos of Old Hong Kong" exhibition is currently on show at the Hong Kong Museum of History and will run until April 21 next year. It features about 700 priceless photos from the museum and Moonchu Foundation collections, including photos taken by well-known early Western photographers such as Milton Miller and John Thomson, offering visitors the opportunity see how Hong Kong has evolved over the past century.

     The illustrated catalogue includes about 500 rarely seen photos selected from the exhibition on various themes including grand celebrations, food culture, disasters, occupations, transport, leisure activities, people's changing lives and the Hong Kong cityscape. Supplemented with detailed descriptions, the catalogue serves as a key reference to the history of Hong Kong from the mid-19th to the early 20th century as well as offering readers an oversight on the introduction of photography to China.

     With 428 pages and priced at $250, the catalogue is now available at the Gift Shop of the Hong Kong Museum of History.

     The Hong Kong Museum of History is located at 100 Chatham Road South, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. It is open from 10am to 6pm on weekdays, from 10am to 7pm on weekends and public holidays, and from 10am to 5pm on Chinese New Year's Eve. It is closed on Tuesdays (except public holidays) and on the first two days of Chinese New Year.
