LegCo Members meet with Kwai Tsing and Central and Western District Council members (with photos)

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     Members of the Legislative Council (LegCo) held meetings today (November 28) with members of the Kwai Tsing District Council (DC) and the Central and Western DC respectively in Conference Room 1 and Conference Room 2A of the LegCo Complex to enable LegCo Members and DC members to discuss and exchange views on matters of mutual interest.
 
     During the meeting with the Kwai Tsing DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on the following issues: follow-up on the provision of hillside escalator links and elevator systems; improving the inadequate public transport services at Northeast Kwai Chung; follow-up on the nuisance at Kau Wah Keng barbecue sites; improving the dilapidated playground and fitness equipment in public housing estates; and improving the pedestrian crossing facilities at Joint Street. The meeting was convened by Mr Steven Ho and attended by Mr Leung Yiu-chung, Mr Tam Yiu-chung, Professor Joseph Lee, Mr Wong Ting-kwong, Ms Starry Lee, Mr Chan Kin-por, Mr Ip Kwok-him, Mr Michael Tien, Mr Chan Han-pan, Ms Chan Yuen-han, Ms Alice Mak and Dr Lo Wai-kwok.

     As for the meeting with the Central and Western DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on the following issues: management of markets in Central and Western District; public works in Central and Western District; public transport re-organisation plans in Central and Western District to tie in with the commissioning of the MTR West Island Line; construction of a continuous promenade in Central and Western District; and concern about the Government's proposal of massive housing construction in Western district. The meeting was convened by Mr Wong Kwok-hing and attended by Mr Vincent Fang, Ms Cyd Ho, Ms Starry Lee, Mr Cheung Kwok-che, Mr Ip Kwok-him, Mr Ng Leung-sing, Mr Yiu Si-wing, Mr Charles Peter Mok, Dr Kenneth Chan, Ms Chan Yuen-han, Mr Kwok Wai-keung, Mr Christopher Cheung, Mr Sin Chung-kai and Mr Christopher Chung.
