Members of the public are invited to take part in the key events of the "Nature in Touch" Country Parks Education Programme, namely a roving exhibition and competitions, which will be rolled out this month.

The programme, hosted by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD), aims to promote a better understanding of country parks, biodiversity, vegetation management and nature conservation with a view to enhancing public awareness of protecting the natural environment. It includes a series of school and public education programmes as well as outdoor experience programmes.

An AFCD spokesman said today (November 6) that one of the major events will be a roving exhibition to be held at five different shopping malls. The first instalment will be at the Fashion World, Whampoa, Hung Hom, this Friday (November 8). Visitors will be able to learn from exhibition panels, videos and audio showcasing the beauty of nature and wildlife in the country parks. They will also be able to visit a simulated country park visitor centre and use a handheld digital microscope to explore the wonders of nature from a microscopic perspective.

Another focus of the programme this year is the staging of various competitions targeting different groups of people.

The "Climate Change and Our Environment" Role Play Competition, an inter-school competition for kindergarten and primary students, aims at arousing the conservation awareness of children, encouraging them to adopt green living and taking action to combat climate change. Competitors will compose stories on the topic "Climate Change and Our Environment" and will give performances in forms such as a musical, drama or dancing. The competition is now open for enrolment and the closing date is November 30.

The "Climate Change and Our Environment" 2D & 3D Model Design Competition aims to motivate secondary students to discuss the subject issue and arouse their awareness of nature and resources conservation. Entrants can enrol as individuals or groups.

The "My Snapshot Story" Country Park Photography Competition promotes nature appreciation and public understanding of our precious natural assets in country parks. Members of the public can share their snapshot stories and convey the conservation message through their works.

The model design competition and the photography competition will be open for enrolment on November 15. A briefing session and workshops for the three competitions will be held later this month.
