Theatre du Pif to stage "La Casa" in December
*********************************************

Theatre du Pif is set to stage its latest production, "La Casa", in December.

Adapted from Spanish dramatist Federico Garcia Lorca's final play, "The House of Bernarda Alba", this production brings together local and Mainland dancers and performers for a powerful fusion of dance and theatre.

A family funeral marks the beginning of a struggle for freedom. Long under the repressive hand of a controlling mother and her old-world views of what should be done and not done, family passions run high with mounting discontent, fiery love and disruptive hate. Hearts want to break away, minds want to flee, some wish to rebel against a suffocating dictator of a mother, and to shatter the constricting social norms and codes. Through dance and theatre, realism and abstraction, this production re-examines how oppressive social codes can weigh heavily on the human soul but also cause it to seek freedom.

"La Casa" is adapted and directed by Bonni Chan, one of the co-artistic directors of Theatre du Pif. The cast for the production includes Sean Curran, Grace Wu, Yu Yanan, Rain Liu, Poon Chun-ho, Sunny Yuen and Tania Tai.

"La Casa" is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. It will be performed in Cantonese, Putonghua and English with Chinese and English surtitles at 8pm on December 13 and 14 (Friday and Saturday) and at 3pm on December 14 and 15 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Theatre of Hong Kong City Hall.
