Young Cantonese opera artists to perform Shakespeare adaptation

     Presented as part of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department's Young Cantonese Opera Artists Series, the Hong Kong Young Talent Cantonese Opera Troupe will perform the recently premiered "A Dream in Fantasia", which is adapted from Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream".

     "A Dream in Fantasia" is written by young Cantonese opera actor Lai Yiu-wai, who will also perform with the Hong Kong Young Talent Cantonese Opera Troupe, which includes Lam Tin-yau, Yuen Sin-ting, Doris Kwan, Cheng Nga-kei, Lam Tsz-ching, Wong Kit-ching, Wong Po-hyun and Hong Wah. The story focuses on the fantasies of three pairs of lovers in an enchanted forest, which turns out to be just a dream. The premiere of the production was well-received, and gives audiences the opportunity to see Cantonese opera's rising stars in a memorable performance.

     Tickets ranging from $90 to $180 are now available at all URBTIX outlets, on the Internet and by telephone credit card booking. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for full-time students and CSSA recipients are available on a first-come, first-served basis).

     A post-performance talk will be held at 7.30pm on December 27 (Friday) at AC2, Level 4, Administration Building, Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Speakers include playwright Lai Yiu-wai and members of the troupe. Admission is free. Limited seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
