Transcript of remarks by SCED on outcomes of domestic free television programme service licence applications
***********************************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, to the media after attending a seminar today (October 28):

Reporter: With the amount of pressure being put on the Government, will an explanation be given to HKTV (Hong Kong Television Network Limited) as to why their application is rejected?

Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development: I think we followed procedural justice, and it's not a matter of how much pressure would come to bear on the Government. The important thing is we followed the regulatory framework, particularly our policy and also a very objective standard to carry out all the work that is necessary to process the three applications. I believe procedural justice has been achieved in this case. We will continue to press on to finish the second stage of the processing and it is my hope that this process will be completed as soon as possible so that we can bring in more programmes and more choices for the people of Hong Kong. Thank you.
