Arrangement for cross-boundary private cars with closed road permits for Lok Ma Chau/Man Kam To/Sha Tau Kok crossings to use Shenzhen Bay Port
************************************************************

The Transport Department announced today (September 30) that cross-boundary private cars with a valid closed road permit (CRP) for the Lok Ma Chau/Man Kam To/Sha Tau Kok crossings can continue to use, in addition, the Shenzhen Bay Port (SBP) until March 31, 2014.

A department spokesman said, "The arrangement for cross-boundary private cars to use SBP, in addition to their originally designated crossings, was originally planned to end on September 30 this year. The Hong Kong and Guangdong governments have discussed and decided to extend the arrangement further for six months to allow holders of cross-boundary private car quotas of the other three land boundary crossings to continue to use SBP, in addition, from October 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014 without the need to go through additional procedures, provided that they possess a valid CRP and the approval letter issued by the department."

"Due to the increasing cross-boundary vehicular traffic using SBP and the increasing traffic in the vicinity of SBP, the six-month extension of the arrangement will be final.  Except for those holding a CRP for SBP, all the cross-boundary private cars with CRPs for the Lok Ma Chau/Man Kam To/Sha Tau Kok crossings must use their designated land boundary control points to cross the boundary from April 1, 2014 after the final extension period ends. The Transport Department has sent letters to individual cross-boundary private car quota holders to inform them of the arrangement," the spokesman added.
